Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

Greg Maddux had his second chance at a win for the Dodgers, but took the loss despite being backed four runs of support by the offense.
The offense heated up a little in this one, with 12 hits and four runs, three from solo homeruns; but still went 1 for 11 with RISP. James Loney and Casey Blake made it 2-0 in the second with a solo shot each. Andre Ethier then added a solo homerun in the fifth, and ended up 3 for 5 on the night, with two doubles. Blake also added an RBI-single in the eighth to score Manny, but Matt Kemp flied out with the bases loaded to end the potential rally.
Maddux suffered his second straight loss as a Dodger, giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits through 5 1/3. Maddux allowed a run to score when he hit Kent while throwing to second to get a double play. The other unearned run scored on Kent’s fielding error. Maddux moves to 0-2 as a Dodger and is now 0-7 this season against NL East teams. Ramon Troncoso, Chan Ho Park, and Broxton combined to finish the game, with Park giving up a solo homerun.
The Dodgers now have a six game losing streak that ties into an eight game losing streak on the road. They look to avoid the sweep today, sending Clayton Kershaw to the mound to face lefty John Lannan.
