Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

The Dodger offense couldn’t match the Mets 12 runs last night to give the Dodgers their first loss to the Mets this season.
The only Dodger run came in the ninth after already being down by 12. They avoided the shutout from Mets starter John Maine when Matt Kemp, playing center, had an RBI single to score Andruw Jones, who had a pinch-hit double. The hit extends Kemp’s hit streak to 12 games. The Dodgers had only four total hits in the game, two coming in that ninth inning.
Brad Penny earned his third loss of the season, giving up 10 runs (a career high) on 10 hits through 4 2/3. The Mets began their rallying off Penny in the second, where Penny gave up three RBI singles to give the Mets four runs. They added one more in the third before putting the game out of reach with a six-run fifth. Scott Proctor came in the fifth inning and left after the sixth, giving up three hits and two runs. Chan Ho Park then threw a perfect three innings to finish the game.
The loss is only the Dodgers’ second in their last twelve. They have an off day today before opening a series against the Astros at home this weekend.
