The Dodgers tied it up in the ninth to send the game to extras and scored six runs in the 10th to get a 12-8 win over the Brewers in the first game of the series.
Chad Billingsley and Braden Looper had almost identical numbers for the night. Billingsley went five-plus innings, giving up five runs on five hits. He was lifted in the sixth after a run scored and loading the bases. Mota came in and allowed a run to score before finishing the inning. Ramon Troncoso ended up picking up his third win. Broxton had a 12-6 lead when he took the mound in the 10th and made it interesting when he allowed two runs to score before getting the final out, courtesy an over-the-shoulder grab by Matt Kemp.
The Dodger offense was all about the long ball in this game. Andre Ethier drove a solo homerun in the first to give the Dodgers a quick 1-0 lead. James Loney then drove a solo shot in the fourth to tie it 2-2. The Dodgers pulled ahead with a two-run shot by Manny and a solo shot by Russell Martin in the sixth. The Dodgers then rallied off closer Trevor Hoffman in the ninth to score a run and send the game to extras. Matt Kemp then put the Dodgers ahead in the tenth by blasting a grand slam. The Dodgers then scored two more before the inning was over.
Jeff Weaver will start Saturday, his first start since June and just his fourth this season. He will face Mike Burns, who is 1-2 with a 5.57 ERA.
