Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

The Dodgers have won their last five games, including an exhibition game against Korea, as they take on the Rockies this afternoon.
Eric Stults made the start inĀ one of the split squad’s game on Saturday, proving to be a possible fifth starter after tossing three shutout innings with two hits. Clayton Kershaw made the other start, giving up two runs through 3 2/3 innings. Russell Martin led the offense, going 2 for 4 with an RBI single and solo homer.
Both Erick Threets and Doug Mientkiewicz were taken out in the seventh; Threets with shoulder problems and Mientkiewicz feeling pain in his quads after hitting a grounder to second. Mientkiewicz is expected to miss at least a week, which may prove costly for him in his hopes of making the 25-man roster.
Claudio Vargas, another fifth starter candidate, will get the start today and split time with Eric Milton on the mound. Manny will also be making his spring debut in left field.
