Dodgers 13, Reds 5  (29-20)

The Dodgers returned home to LA and put on some fireworks as they blew out the Reds in their series opener.  Steve Sax was five for six with two runs while Mickey Hatcher went five for six with two runs and two RBIs.  Pedro Guerrero went three for four with three RBIs and two runs.

Fernando Valenzuela had a tough start but he avoided the loss because of all the offense.  He gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings while Tim Crews threw 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief to improve to 1-0.
