Tonight’s Preview

Yesterday’s day off should help the Dodgers to cover after being swept by Arizona. They now begin a six game homestand, starting with the Padres tonight at 7:40.

Brad Penny looks for revenge against the Padres and ace Jake Peavy, whom he faces again tonight. On their last matchup, Penny threw five scoreless innings after giving up four runs in the first, which gave him the loss.

Peavy is 2-0 on the season and 10-1 lifetime against the Dodgers. He threw a complete game victory on his last outing against the Dodgers, holding them to only one run on two hits. Perhaps Peavy’s domination of the Dodgers will cease tonight if we get lucky and have him get caught with a “foreign substance” on his hand?

The offense looks to heat up after being outscored 23-11 by the Dbacks this week. James Loney looks to extend his league leading and career high nine game hit streak.
