Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]
The Dodgers belted out all nine runs in just two innings as they beat the Giants for the second straight game of the set.
Randy Wolf had arguably his best outing of the season, going eight innings and giving up just one run on three hits. He threw 70 of his 103 pitches for strikes and picked up his sixth win to even his record at .500.
Joe Martinez kept the Dodgers from touching the plate through the first four innings, but the Dodgers came out for four in the fourth, keyed by a two-RBI double by Andre Ethier to take the lead. Two innings later, Manny Ramirez made it 6-1 with a two-run homerun, one of his two hits of the night. Matt Kemp follow suit with a three-run shot to cap off the scoring.
The Dodgers look to finish the sweep in today’s afternoon game. Jeff Weaver will make the start in place of Chad Billingsley, who has a strained left hamstring, though it is nothing series and he should be back in the rotation by Monday. Weaver is making his sixth start this season and first since July 11. He will face Tim Lincecum, who is 7-1 at home and 3-0 lifetime against the Dodgers, and is two K’s away from the 200 career strikeout milestone.
