Wolf Finally Earns Decision in Dodgers Big Win

by @ 7:56 pm. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

Randy Wolf earned just his fourth win this season after 12 no decisions in the Dodgers’ 11-2 win over the Mets in Thursday’s rubber match.

Wolf took the mound with a nice 4-0 lead in the first. He gave up a run in the first and another in the third, but otherwise had a decent outing. He left with one out in the seventh with a six-run lead. James McDonald finished the inning and the eighth with no hits and Claudio Vargas worked the ninth.

The Dodgers came out to score four runs in the first off Livan Hernandez, three courtesy of Orlando Hudson’s bases-clearing double. Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake each drove RBI-singles in the second to make it 6-1. Russell Martin hit a two-RBI single in the fourth and the Dodgers added three more in the eighth. Rafael Furcal had three hits and three runs scored, Ramirez two hits and two RBIs, and Juan Castro had a two-RBI pinch hit at bat.

The Dodgers head to Milwaukee for their final series before the All-Star Break. Chad Billingsley will take the mound Friday and face Braden Looper. Billingsley, winless since June 14, is still in search of his 10th win while Looper is 7-4, 4-1 at home.
